Walnut Pesto

Walnut Pesto. Blend basil, walnuts, olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice together in a food processor until pesto has a paste-like consistency. Place the basil leaves and garlic in a food processor or blender, and mix well. Add the walnuts, and continue to blend until the nuts are finely ground. Place the walnuts and garlic in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a steel blade. Add basil leaves a little at a time, pulsing until a smooth paste forms. To make Walnut Pesto you need 9 ingredients and 2 steps easily.

The ingredients needed to make Walnut Pesto:

  • 1 cup of dried basil

  • 2 tablespoons of dried parsley flakes

  • 1/3 cup of lemon juice

  • 1-1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt

  • 2 cups of walnuts

  • 2/3 cup of extra virgin olive oil

  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic

  • As needed of warm water

Steps to make Walnut Pesto:

  • Measure out the parsley and basil. Add water and stir getting any dry lumps totally wet. Let sit 10 minutes. Have just enough water to barely cover the herbs. Let sit for 10 minutes covered
  • Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend into a paste. It's ready to use. Can store in refrigerator in an airtight container for 3 weeks. I hope you enjoy!!!

Use immediately or cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate to store. Drain, reserving some of the cooking water. Combine The Pesto Ingredients After you toast the walnuts, throw half of the spinach, basil, toasted nuts, garlic, Parmesan, olive oil, salt, and pepper into a food processor and pulse until combined. Then add the second half of the ingredients and repeat. You'd get something like Trader Joe's Walnut Pesto!
