Kaeng Som is eaten all over the country, from the north to the northeast, central and the south. Each region has their own version that is slightly. Gaeng som (also sometimes spelled kaeng som แกงส้ม) in Thai means sour curry or sour soup. Firstly, if you order gaeng som in central Thailand, it's a completely different looking curry / soup and flavor. It's reddish in color and tastes almost like sweet and sour soup – typically too sweet for my taste.
